Sewage Treatment Site Discussed in Closed Session
By Drew Tanner
No changes to the Slatyfork sewer project came out of a half-hour special meeting called by the Pocahontas County Public Service District on Monday.
Board members Scott Millican and William Rexrode spent the meeting in an executive session to discuss "acquisition of real estate related to the sewer project." The topic was the only item on the meeting's agenda.
Board treasurer Mark Smith was out of town due to an illness in his family and could not be present for the discussion, said PSD plant manager Ricky Barkley.
While Barkley usually sits in on the board's executive sessions, Rexrode and Millican asked him to leave the room Monday night.
At the conclusion of the closed-door session, Millican and Rexrode declined to comment on the content of their discussion.
At its regular meeting two weeks ago, the board spent an hour in executive session to discuss the sewage plant site. Board attorney Tom Michael, Region IV Planning and Development director W.D. Smith and Ken Moran, the project's engineer were present for that meeting's discussion.
The board's next regular meeting is scheduled for December 26.
