Questions to help understand
There are a number of things about this issue that I don't understand. Can someone provide some insight?
Why are the county officials rolling over on this issue? Aren't they supposed to be representing the interests of the resident voters? Intrawest is not a resident voter is it? They might have all the bucks and pay the taxes - but doesn't the county still retain control on behalf of the (non-snowshoe) residents? If all it takes is a request from the commission to the Governor for the alternative state land site - then why aren't they making that request? Do the majority of county residents favor Snowshoe's plan? If not - then where are the voices of the elected officials on this issue?

As an outsider, who would like to get on board with this fight, It would be nice to get some feeback on the questions above. Consider me a typical Snowshoe homeowner (even though I would like to think I am more sensitive to the local issues). If the local officials are not on board (who theoretically represent the community) then I have to wonder whether the community is for this or not (that is locating the plant on the Sharp Farm). It seems to make perfect sense to locate it on State property instead, and even legally it seems that is possibly required if available. However, I still have to wonder why these officials are not speaking up, if indeed the community is against it. Maybe they are? Are any of them up for election next week? OK, someone has to play devils advocate, is the community behind this or not?

For the most part, the community does not seem to be in favor of putting the plant on the Sharp Farm. One of the CC seats is being elected next week. All three of the announced candidates claim to be supportive of relocating the plant elsewhere. The two CC members not being elected this time are insistant that the plant be located at the Sharp farm. It appears that Snowshoe wants to get the County to pay for the plant rather than building their own. As for the CC's intransigent position, who knows? Maybe someone made them offers they can't refuse.

Dear D -Dub-Dub,
I would say the majority of the citizens of POcahontas county are NOT in favor of the plant being put on the Sharp farm property. The gov. did offer up state property for free & Sen. Halmick said he could get grant money to pay the diff. in moving it; so my question to the cc is what is the problem here? We have spoken by our votes in the primary election & got rid of 1 of the cc & we will do the same when James & Reata's terms come up!
Originally Snowshoe was going to build their own plant on their own property but Mr. Russell Holt (buyer of the big Vandevender(sp?) farm on 219 raised heck cause he wouldn't be able to use enough of it to develop his property. My feeling is, he should pay the diff. to move it!

If it looks like a duck and smells like a duck .......... Why else could this obstinate refusal to hear and deal with sound reasoning against putting it on the Sharp farm be totally ignored by the powers that be? As far as I know not a single one of these six (PCC and PSD) have an engineering degree nor are they experts on limestone/karst, etc., yet they choose not to heed any of the educated, compelling arguments by these experts on the very real dangers/pending disaster of using the Sharp Farm property for Snowshoe's sewage plant. These politicos have simply taken Thrasher's/Tom Michael, Esq., bait - hook, line and sinker - and have been deaf, dumb, and totally oblivious to anything additional. We must not forget the years long battle being waged against Thrasher Engineering due to the disaster they created in Ida May. This one has disaster written all over it. We do not have to suffer that fate. JUST MOVE IT to safe, karst free, free of charge land 1/4 mile away.

Maybe it is time to follow the money and look at the individual members of the PCC & PSD bank accounts. It seems to me besides Snowshoe ownership they are the only ones who are benefitting.

it is becoming clearer. Snowshoe owners have to 'dump'
their xxxx quickly. In this case it just means get the sewer liability environmental (cleanup) liability transferred to Pocahontas Co. to cover.
This will save their investors but cost Pocahontas Co and eventually WV big bucks. But the damage will last a half century or more. Time to put a stop to this madness. Let Snowshoe pay for and clean their own xxxx.
