I want to thank David Fleming for a super job with the Save the Sharp farm website. It is truly a work of art. We have been overwhelmed by the support from concerned West Virginians. Professionals, experts, clubs, politicians, churches, environmental groups, conservation groups, sportsmen, fishermen, cavers and regular folk just like us are joining forces to save the Sharp farm. A concerted behind the scenes effort should soon culminate in a solution that will benefit all. Your help is needed and much appreciated.

The basic fact is the proposed site for a sewer treatment plant is more than a poor choice, it is dangerous for health and safety reasons and for the environment. Situating the plant on the Sharp farm will take away a way of life, the hopes and dreams and the livelihood of an eight-generation Pocahontas County family. Another victim will be the Sharp's 66-year tenant, the now 94-year-old Evva Shelton.

Governor Manchin has offered any suitable state owned land for a transfer fee of $1 dollar. Pocahontas County is owned, more than half, by the state and federal government. In a rural setting with thousands of unoccupied public acres available, it is simply not necessary to take private property. The corporate owner of Snowshoe is lobbying in support of taking this precious place. The county commission is interested in developing this beautiful, bucolic valley. So far they are standing firm in their bid for the Sharp farm. We are striving to provide a reason, based on common sense and truth, for them to do the right thing and abandon the idea of taking the Sharp farm via Eminent Domain.

Well, you all can see I made it here and I'm not real shy about my opinion. More people need to know this is going on and I'm spreading the word as much as I can.

Honestly, I've heard from people who spend a lot of time at Snowshoe and two of them have told me that they are AGAINST stealing the Sharp farm through eminent domain and think other alternatives should be followed. I think there's a whole lot more to this, some ulterior motives, than a sewer treatment plant, to be quite honest.
