March 4, 2008: We won! The eminent domain controversy is over. This website remains "as-was" to serve as a testament to the hard work that a lot of people put in over the past few years. Let us remember the lessons learned from this struggle.

This field is the proposed site for a sewage treatment plant to primarily serve Snowshoe Mountain Resort.  Through the efforts of the Pocahontas Public Service District, proponents hope to acquire it via eminent domain—even though other locations not requiring eminent domain are available.

This field is also on the historic Sharp Farm of Slatyfork, West Virginia.  The Big Spring Fork runs just behind this lovely field and forms the headwaters of the Elk River - into which up to 1.5 million gallons of treated effluent would be discharged daily.

As one of Pocahontas County's famous Eight Rivers, the Elk is renowned for its native reproducing trout and its remote and uncorrupted waters.
