BE THERE! May 8 Meeting with the PSD
The next Pocahontas Public Service District (PSD) meeting will be held Tuesday, May 8 at 7:00pm at the BFD (fire department) in Durbin. THIS IS A HIGHLY IMPORTANT MEETING. This meeting is for the presentation by Eight Rivers Safe Development to the PSD regarding the need for a more suitable, community-driven approach in addressing the area's sewage issue. Organizations and officials representing the many viewpoints of this issue will come together at this meeting, and—of course—the public is especially encouraged to attend. Please make every effort to be there if you can.

For those of us who can not attend the meeting - what would be the most effective way to communicate our position (for a new plan, against additional funding) between now and Tuesday?

Hi D-Dub-Dub,

So glad you asked. Please write letters to the Pocahontas Public Service District (PSD) and the West Virginia Public Service Commission (WVPSC) and let them know of your support for the meeting and for the collaboration that is taking place.

If you'd like, I just did 2 brand new (May 5) letters: one to the PSD and one to the WVPSC. Go here to read and/or send those letters.

Thanks D-Dub-Dub, hang in there. :-)

Re: BE THERE! May 8 Meeting with the PSD
David,

A little confused here. Read the signs this past winter as I went to the resort.

I did some research and what I have found is that the PSD was the originators of the Eminent Domain acquisition. Granted the Snowshoe and Slaty Fork development/developers period have the most to gain. However, Snowshoe found a spot on their own property that would be suitable for their needs. But neighbors complained, saying what was needed was a bigger, regional system that could serve not only the resort but also surrounding areas. The Pocahontas Public Service District agreed, as did the DEP.

So, Snowshoe was prepared to upgrade their current facility until approached by the PSD. These neighbors that agreed that a more regional system was needed. Was these neighbors the other development firms?

Before I get a heated reply from viewers. Let state, I am strongly against the eminent domain act. It clearly means we never own our property, that we only act as custodians for the government. Covering the taxes and improving only for them to say thanks but we need this now.

I just like to have the facts striate, so I hold the proper official(s) accountable.

This not meant to be sarcastic toward those that live there or toward the Sharp Farm. Can someone tell why Snowshoe is getting all the heat? Just trying to connect the dots.

Thanks
